In order to install the AlamedaNETCable Modem Service, your computer must be equipped with a Network Interface Card (NIC). The NIC card is used to connect the computer to the cable modem with an Ethernet cable. If we need to install a network card for you, you must have at least one free compatible IRQ and a free expansion slot. If you are unaware of whether you have a free expansion slot you can look at the back of your computer and if you see a smooth metal colored strip, this usually means that you have a free slot. Exceptions will apply and if you are still unsure, please contact your computer manufacturer.
