Configuring Your Computer

Our installer will visit your home or office and install your cable modem. They will make sure that the cable connection to your home is working correctly and that the cable modem gets a connection. Be sure to leave your cable modem turned on at all times, even when you turn your computer off. It allows Alameda Power & Telecom to make sure that there is a solid connection to your home.

After the modem installation has been completed, you will need to configure your computer.

It is best to begin this process when your computer has just been rebooted and no programs are running (i.e., word processors etc.). These instructions assume that your machine is not being used to connect to any other online service, local network, or office network.

Your computer may require your system disks during the procedure.

If you encounter difficulties while configuring your system, make note of what you were doing at the time of the error as well as any error messages you receive. Contact our technical support staff at 1-888-207-0204.
