To check how much hard drive space you have available on your Windows-based system, double click the My Computer icon on the desktop. Click the View menu then choose Details The Details section will display the total size of your hard drive as well as the amount of free space.

To check how much hard drive space you have available on your Macintosh under OS X, select About This Mac under the Apple menu. Then click on More Info.

To check how much hard drive space you have on your Macintosh running under an older operating system, click the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop. The amount of free space will be displayed at the top of the window.
