AlamedaNET recommends disabling file and printer sharing on
your system for even more protection in an always on environment.
For Windows
- You can access the file and printer sharing options in the Network Connections Menu.
- Right click on your NIC card and select Properties.
- Scroll to File and Printer Sharing, uncheck the associated box and
disable the use of the device.
For Macintosh
- Select the Sharing Setup from Control Panels.
- If the file sharing dialog box indicates that file sharing is off,
you do not need to make any changes and you can stop here.
- If the file sharing dialog box does not say File Sharing is Off, select Stop.
- A dialog box will appear asking you how many minutes to wait before turning off
File Sharing: select 0 (zero).
- Click OK and close the Sharing Setup control panel.
