To setup Outlook Express to send and receive mail through your AlamedaNET account, double-click the Outlook Express icon on your computer. If this is the first time you have opened Outlook Express it will start the Setup Wizard. Otherwise, click on the Tools menu, then select Accounts. This will open the Internet Accounts window. On the right side of the resulting window, click on the Add button then select Mail. This starts the Wizard.

The Wizard will start asking you to fill in your email settings:

  1. In the Display Name box type in your name, then click Next.
  2. Click on the dot in front of I already have an email address that I'd like to use.
  3. In the email address box type in your AlamedaNET email address.
  4. Click Next.
  5. My incoming mail server is a POP3 server
  6. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box type in pop.alamedanet.net

  9. In the Account name box type in your username.
  10. In the Password box type in your password.
  11. Click Next, then click Finish.

You will now be looking at the Internet Accounts accounts window again. Click on the Mail tab. Under Accounts you will see pop.alamedanet.net.

Click on pop.alamedanet.net once to highlight it, then click the Set as Default button. Then click the Close button.

Outlook Express is now configured to send and receive your AlamedaNET email.

If you were using a dial-up connection before, you may still be configured to retrieve email from your old account. To stop checking that account for email, click on the Tools menu, then click on Accounts. Click on the Mail tab. You will see the pop.alamedanet.net account that you created above. If you see another account listed, click on it than click on Properties. At the bottom of the General tab you will see a check-box labeled Include this account... - uncheck the check-box the click OK. Do this for any accounts listed you no longer use, then click Close when done.

If you have any trouble setting up for email please feel free to contact our Technical Support department at 1-888-207-0204 or via email to tech@alamedanet.net.
