Ensure you have obtained and installed a NIC (Network Interface Card) card prior to configuring your cable Internet connection.

1. Click on Start> Settings> Control Panel.
2. Double-click on Network.
   1. Scroll down the list until you see TCP/IP > XXXX Ethernet Adapter ("XXXX" being the make of your Ethernet card.) Select the proper TCP/IP entry and click the Properties button.
   2. Click the radio button next to Obtain an IP address automatically.
   3. Click the WINS Configuration tab at the top.
   4. Click the radio button next to Disable WINS Resolution.
   5. Click the Gateway tab.
   6. Clear all fields.
   7. Click the Bindings tab.
   8. Uncheck all items.
   9. Click the DNS Configuration tab.
   10. Select Disable DNS.
   11. Click OK, then OK again to exit the Network properties window.
   12. If prompted to reboot you computer, click Yes.
