Configure Windows NT 4.0

Ensure you have obtained and installed a NIC (Network Interface Card) card prior to configuring your cable Internet connection.

  1. Click on Start> Settings> Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on Network.
    1. Click the Protocols tab, select TCP/IP Protocol and click on Properties.
    2. Select Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.
    3. Click the DNS tab and make sure the Host name field is filled in. If not, type in your first name.
    4. Remove all DNS IP addresses in the DNS Service Search Order and Domain Suffix Search Order.
    5. Click the WINS Address tab. Delete all fields and clear all checkboxes.
    6. Perform the following only on Windows NT Server:
    7. Click the DHCP Relay tab and clear all entries in the DHCP Servers window.
    8. Click the Routing tab and uncheck Enable IP Forwarding.
    9. Click OK.
    10. Click Close.
    11. If prompted to reboot your computer, click Yes.
