Ensure you have obtained and installed a NIC (Network Interface Card)
card prior to configuring your cable Internet connection.
- Click on Start> Control Panel and
select Network.
- Click the right mouse button on Local Area Connection
and choose Properties from the drop down menu.
- Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
for your network card.
- Click the Properties button.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically
and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click OK to exit.
- Click on Start> Control Panel and
select Internet Options.
- Click Never dial a connection.
- Click the button labeled LAN Settings at
the bottom.
- Uncheck all options.
- Click OK, then OK
again to exit to Control Panel.
- Close Control Panel.
