Ensure you have obtained and installed a NIC (Network Interface Card) card prior to configuring your cable Internet connection.

1. Click on Start> Control Panel and select Network.
2. Click the right mouse button on Local Area Connection and choose Properties from the drop down menu.
3. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) for your network card.
4. Click the Properties button.
5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
6. Click OK to exit.
7. Click on Start> Control Panel and select Internet Options.
8. Click Never dial a connection.
9. Click the button labeled LAN Settings at the bottom.
10. Uncheck all options.
11. Click OK, then OK again to exit to Control Panel.
12. Close Control Panel.
