Run to see this. | If Only Showtime Knew How to Market its Programs Reviewer: An Anonymous Reviewer from Alameda, CA on 07/26/06 Another excellent series from Showtime, the cable network that created Weeds, Huff, The L Word, Sleeper Cell, Dead Like Me. Showtime doesn't get the credit and ratings that HBO gets for it's creations, but its programs are some of the best on the air.
Brotherhood is kind of an Irish Sopranos with a bit of the feel of The Wire. It deserves points just for being set in Providence, Rhode Island, which gives it a gritty, orginal feel. The characters are complex; no one is "the good guy." The stories center on the back rooms and back alleys of local politics and crime. The cast is first rate, and with the exception of Annabeth Gish have been little seen on American TV, providing an Irish Spring freshness that the old style networks avoid. Well worth a run to see. |
