Might be worth attention. | Northern Exposure meets Sex in the City Reviewer: Sara Bellam from Alameda, CA on 10/30/07 This show is shamelessly, relentlessly derivative. Marin Frist, played by the relationship-challenged Anne Heche, is our Carrie Bradshaw knock-off, a New York City relationship counselor. When her own relationship goes south right under her nose, she retreats to a small Alaska town brimming with quirky characters to nurse her wounds, regroup, and write a book. Her on-again, off-again relationship with the broody town hunk is the ongoing hook of the show.
"Elmo" is replete with radio host over-voicing, town tavern, bears, female law enforcement (how likely is this, really, in a region where the male-female ratio is 2:1??), inter-racial brothers, even light therapy for seasonal depression - all of which comes straight out of Northern Exposure, for those of you too young to remember. It's entertaining enough, but it was a lot more engaging the first time around. |
