Locating Utilities Before You Dig
If you are planning to excavate on your property, you are required
by law to notify the Underground Service Alert network at least
2 working days prior to digging to locate utilities such as electric,
water, telephone, or natural gas lines. Underground Service Alert
will send a field representative to check your excavation plans
against maps of underground utilities and other potential hazards.
Failure to contact Underground Service Alert may result in damage
to utilities, with potential danger of severe property damage, injury,
and even death. Once the Underground Service Alert network signs
off on your excavation plans, you are relieved of all financial
liability for any mapping or inspection errors that might occur.
