Alameda Power and Telecom Web Privacy Notice

Alameda Power & Telecom (Alameda P&T) has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for these URLs only: www.alamedapt.com, www.alamedapowerandtelecom.com, electricity.ci.alameda.ca.us, www.alamedanet.net, alameda.ltbx.net/community/, and ecare.alamedapt.com.

Note: This site contains links to other sites. These links are provided only as a service to customers. Alameda P&T is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

By using this site, you consent to our collection and use of the information as specified below.

Information Gathering

We track user traffic patterns throughout the site using log file analysis and Google Analytics. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. We do break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). We use information to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website as well as to gather broad demographic information, such as the number of visitors to our website.

If you send email to Alameda Power & Telecom, your email address may be shared with others within the Alameda Power & Telecom organization as necessary to deal with any questions or issues that may arise. Email sent to tech@alamedanet.net is handled by the Internet Service Provider (Parasun) which provides cable Internet service for AlamedaNET. Depending on the nature of your message (i.e., a report of a service problem), it may be necessary to share your email address with a third party.

Alameda P&T customers have the option of paying their electric service and/or telecom service bills online. Using this feature of the site requires that the customer log in with the account number and a password. Credit card or electronic check information is then required from the customer. This transaction is protected by 1024-bit encryption. The credit card or checking information collected is used to pay only the amount that the customer authorizes and is not retained.

An Alameda resident may check the availability of Alameda P&T cable television and high speed Internet service by entering his or her address on this website. If service is indeed available, the would-be customer may go on to submit an online request for service. In order to establish availability, Alameda P&T requests the address; for a request for service, Alameda P&T also requests the name, daytime phone, and an optional email address in order to contact the customer to verify the order and schedule an installation appointment.

Customers have the option of submitting an email address in order to be notified of service availability. Such an address is used only to provide such notification; after notice is sent, the address is deleted.

Customers may send Feedback about our products and services. We do not require that the customer provide personally identifiable information in order to send feedback. However, if the customer desires a response, we do need at least an email address; we also include a prompt for name and account number, which may be necessary if the customer has a specific question about his/her account.

Any feedback submitted to Alameda Power & Telecom (a Department of the City of Alameda) is a public record. As with all public records, we are required to make the content of such feedback available if requested to do so.

Depending on the nature of the customer's comments, the information provided by the customer may be shared within the Alameda Power & Telecom organization or with a service provider or other third party.

In the Cable TV Rate and Review TV Shows and Movies area, we permit visitors to submit reviews. We do not require any personally identifiable information, such as email addresses or names, in order to submit a review.

Information Dissemination

Alameda P&T does not disclose, share, or sell customer information with any third party except

  • as necessary to provide service, or
  • to collect payment for Alameda P&T services, or
  • if we are legally bound to do so, such as when we receive a request from law enforcement.
