Electric Shock Tips

If you are with someone who is the victim of electrical shock, seek immediate first aid. If the victim is in contact with low voltage indoor electricity, shut off power or pull the plug if possible. If the victim is in contact with a live outdoor wire, the only safe thing to do is call 911. Once the shock victim is clear of the electrical source, apply standard first aid techniques that would be used to treat someone for cardiac arrest, traumatic shock, or burns.

If you see a downed, live electrical line, please call Alameda Power & Telecom 24 hours a day at 510-748-3902.
