Rider MD
Medical Discount
Purpose
The Medical Discount is offered to lessen the financial impact of higher
electricity costs resulting from operating life-support and critical health
maintenance electrical equipment.
Applicability
The Medical Discount is available to persons whose service address serves as the
primary place of residence and who reside there full time, year round. The household
must be receiving service under Alameda Power & Telecom's (Alameda P&T's)
Schedule D-1 Residential Service.
The customer must certify that the disabled occupant is:
- Dependent upon a life-support device; or
- A paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic requiring additional space
heating; or
- A Multiple Sclerosis patient requiring additional space heating or air
conditioning; or
- A Scleroderma patient requiring additional space heating.
Certification requires a dated letter from the disabled occupant's attending
physician stating the occupant's name, disability, and need for special
life-support or additional space heating/conditioning requirements for reasons
specified in a-d above. Medical conditions other than listed above may be
eligible for a discount and will be reviewed on an individual basis. All
disabled occupants must requalify every two years by
submitting a new dated letter of doctor's certification.
Customers who are receiving the discount associated with the bill assistance
component of Alameda P&T's Energy Assistance Program (see
Rider EA) are not eligible for the Medical Discount.
Rate
Medical Discount: Alameda P&T charges
under the Rate Schedule D-1 will be discounted by 10%, not including State and
Local taxes.
