Old Refrigerator Pickup: Where Art Meets the Environment
Alameda Power & Telecom is offering residents a FREE pickup of old refrigerators, while creating a unique opportunity for artists.
The Alameda City Arts Council and Alameda Power & Telecom have joined forces to co-sponsor an innovative community art and
recycling project. With the Second Refrigerator Pickup Program, Alameda residents are given the chance to dispose of old
refrigerators at no cost, while a select group of artists will be chosen to turn the discarded appliances into works of art.
In With the New
Old refrigerators are wasteful and expensive. With this program, Alameda Power & Telecom hopes to encourage customers to
either eliminate second refrigerators or simply upgrade older models to newer, more efficient ones. Newer refrigerators aren't
simply better for the environment — they're better for your pocketbook too!
In addition to saving on your monthly bill, Alameda residents who upgrade to ENERGY STAR® models are eligible for a $125 rebate.
