APPA AWARDS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD TO ALAMEDA POWER & TELECOM
ALAMEDA, Calif., August 1, 2004 —
Alameda Power & Telecom's
Energy Management Supervisor
Meredith Owens recently accepted
the Community Service Award from
Glenn Cannon of the Board of
Directors of the American Public
Power Association.
The award is given
to public power utilities that have
shown a commitment to enhancing
the quality of life in their communities.
Several Public Benefits initiatives
were cited, including Alameda Power
& Telecom's Geothermal Education
Project, Solar Photovoltaic Middle
School Project, Geothermal Power Plant Tours,
and Neighborhood Programs.
The American
Public Power Association is comprised of approximately
2,000 municipal utilities across the
United States that collectively serve over onequarter
of the nation's electrical consumers.
