ANOTHER EXCLUSIVE VIDEO RELEASE

ALAMEDA, Calif., March 1, 2005 — And it could be a lifesaver!

In April, look for another exclusive video production from Alameda Power & Telecom. "Alameda Prepare!" is a major component of the award-winning program, "Together We Prepare: A Disaster-Resistant Alameda," a collaborative effort of the City of Alameda Fire Department and the Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The initiative seeks to train 20,000 Alameda residents, over a quarter of our total population, in disaster preparedness. Advance planning will go a long way toward helping our community successfully manage a disaster.

The "Alameda Prepare!" DVD will be released on April 18, the 99th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. The half-hour program features steps that can be taken now, as well as a neighbor-to-neighbor approach to dealing with emergencies.

Some 5,000 DVDs will be distributed throughout our community. They will be available on loan, free, through libraries, schools, social and civic organizations, and business associations. The program also will be cablecast on Alameda Power & Telecom cable television public access Channel 31. Check this website, the Alameda TV website, www.alamedatv.org, or local program listings for dates and times.

In addition to video training, Alameda Power & Telecom is working with the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter to offer training presentations to local groups.

"Together We Prepare: A Disaster-Resistant Alameda" offers our community disaster preparedness courses, materials, and events through our neighborhoods, schools, businesses, government, and other community organizations. Program participants learn emergency preparedness steps to help plan for disasters, as well as receive information on Alameda's Community Emergency Response Team training, Alerting and Warning System, and Disaster Registry Program.

As a result of the City's efforts, in January, the Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross presented its Good Neighbor Award to the City of Alameda for "exceptional initiative in identifying and meeting community needs." Chapter Chief Executive Officer, Harold Brooks, observed, "The City of Alameda has chosen to lead the way in making the Bay Area the most prepared place in the nation. They have taken on the difficult goal of preparing their residents to handle the emergencies we know will come our way and their success makes them an invaluable partner."

Alameda Power & Telecom is proud to support and be a part of this leading effort.
