Power Supply Alternatives for Alameda
Citizen input is an essential element of Alameda Power & Telecom
planning processes. There is no better example than when considering the
need, technology, site, and construction of an electric power resource.
That's why Alameda Power & Telecom hosted another in the series of "Town
Hall" meetings on power supply alternatives.
Background
The Public Utilities Board held an initial series of meetings on this
subject in the spring of 2002. Over 88 pages of public input were
integrated into the initial report that appears on this website.
The New Updated Report
Because many questions remained on the alternative of Municipal Solid
Waste Gasification for Power Generation, the Public Utilities Board
authorized preparation of a second report.
A draft of this report also appears on this website.
Copies also are available for review at Alameda libraries and at the Alameda Power & Telecom Service Center, 2000 Grand Street.
The Town Hall Meeting
At its meeting Wednesday evening, June 16, the Public Utilities Board authorized a
"Town Hall" meeting for Tuesday, June 29.
At the Town Hall meeting, attendees were able to pose questions about the
gasification technology and contribute to the decision-making process.
The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers and was for the
express purpose of obtaining additional public comment for integration into the
final report. The meeting has been both transcribed and televised on Alameda's
government access channel, Channel 15.
