PREMIER CBS PROGRAMMING NOW ON ALAMEDA POWER & TELECOM SYSTEM
ALAMEDA, Calif., October 4, 2006 —Alameda Power & Telecom officials announced today it has reached an agreement on all principle terms with CBS Corporation to carry its area digital and high-definition broadcast signals. As a result, CBS owned-and-operated Bay Area stations KPIX (CBS) and KBCW (The CW) now are available locally in high-definition format.
"We are pleased to be able to make this announcement and that CBS leading products now are available on the Bay Area's leading cable television system," said Alameda Power & Telecom General Manager Valerie Fong.
"On behalf of CBS, KPIX, and KBCW, I am delighted that Alameda Power & Telecom subscribers, who have long enjoyed our outstanding news, sports, and entertainment programming in analog standard definition will now enjoy the wonder of those same shows in glorious digital high definition," said Ron Longinotti, President and General Manager of KPIX and KBCW. "I also want to commend Alameda Power & Telecom's commitment to their customers in bringing this enhanced viewing experience to the viewers we share."
With the agreement, Alameda Power & Telecom cable television customers are able to enjoy an array of programming broadcast by CBS and KPIX in high-definition television that includes such prime-time programs as "CSI," "Cold Case," "Without a Trace," and "Two and a Half Men." A wide variety of sports programming also will be carried, such as NCAA college football and basketball, including March Madness, and NFL football, including Super Bowl XLI on February 4.
Another service becomes available in the Alameda Power & Telecom Expanded Cable tier. College Sports TV (CSTV), now part of CBS Corporation, will connect more fans to more college sports in more ways than anyone else. CSTV brings comprehensive coverage, including regular-season and championship events for over 35 men's and women's college sports, as well as a host of new original programming.
"We are pleased to be entering the Alameda market which is home to so many passionate sports fans," said Brian Bedol, President, Chief Executive Officer and founder of CSTV Networks. "We expect our programming ñ which is second to none ñ to resonate with the market's growing fan base."
"This is great news for us," Fong continued. "Our customers have come to expect superior programming, and this CBS accord provides just that."
