NATIONWIDE PROBLEM WITH DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDERS IS BEING ADDRESSED
ALAMEDA, Calif., February 21, 2007 - A nationwide issue with the interface between Motorola and TV Guide digital video recorders (DVRs) began occuring on Tuesday, February 20th. These Motorola DVRs are used by AP&T and many other cable TV provider across the country.
The issue is with the DVR button on the remote control. When clicking this button, instead of a list of previously recorded programs, the viewer sees such nonsense "characters" as "$yy" or "f".
To work around the issue, the viewer can instead choose menu>select DVR>My Recordings. The list of recorded programs will appear. The viewer may also power cycle the DVR (unplug the device and plug it back in). This should restore the DVR button access.
Motorola and TV Guide are working on the problem.
