COMMERCIAL SERVICES ADDED TO
ALAMEDA P&T INTERNET OFFERINGS

ALAMEDA, Calif., March 27 2007 —At its March 19 meeting, the City of Alameda Public Utilities Board established two new service levels designed to meet the unique needs of Alameda Power & Telecom commercial AlamedaNET customers.

The new “AlamedaNET Commercial” service is a true symmetric, 6 mbps, business-grade offering and is available now throughout virtually the entire City of Alameda.  At just $375 per month, this new service will more than meet the unique needs of business customers.  There is no comparable product offered by Alameda Power & Telecom’s competitors.

A new “AlamedaNET T-1 Data” product will bring commercial-level, high-speed services to businesses located at Alameda Point.  This product will be unique to Alameda Point and provided over the copper-wire telephone plant operated by Alameda Power & Telecom.  Alameda Power & Telecom will offer the AlamedaNET T-1 Data product to Alameda Point customers for just $499.99 per month, a rate from 20% to over 30% less than the comparable product.  It is expected that the AlamedaNET T-1 Data product will be available within 30 to 90 days.

“We’re proud to be bringing these products forward,” said General Manager Girish Balachandran.  “These services not only will provide additional revenue to an enterprise fund of the City, but they will also go a long way in supporting the Alameda business community.”

He continued by noting that the initial primary focus of the telecommunications business line had been on the residential sector due to construction circumstances.  Now that construction of the telecommunications system essentially has been completed, additional emphasis can be placed on the commercial sector.

“These two new services definitely showcase the City’s ‘Buy Alameda’ theme,” Balachandran summed.  “They’re also valuable additional tools in our local economic development arsenal, both to support existing businesses and to attract new businesses to our community.”

“The telecommunications business line faces significant financial and operational challenges,” Balachandran noted.  “Alameda Power & Telecom is a community-based business, and input from our customer-owners is vital in determining our future direction.

To order the AlamedaNET Commercial or T-1 Data services, business customers should call (510) 748-3900.
