ALAMEDA POWER & TELECOM
COMMERCIAL CUSTOMER LOAN PROGRAM
TAPPED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARD
ALAMEDA, Calif., April 12, 2001 - The California Association for Local Economic
Development announced today that Alameda Power & Telecom is the recipient of
an Award of Merit for its Commercial Customer Loan Program.
"This recognition supports our position that energy-efficiency is good for
business," says Meredith Owens, energy management coordinator at Alameda Power & Telecom.
"The businesses we are working with in Alameda have come to feel the same way."
A component of Alameda Power & Telecomıs Energy Values Program, this initiative
was developed to encourage energy-efficient economic growth, particularly at Alameda Point,
Alameda's former Naval Air Station. The program provides low-interest loans to commercial
customers for the purchase of energy-efficient electric equipment and infrastructure improvements.
The Commercial Customer Loan Program is a cooperative effort between Alameda Power & Telecom,
which buys down the interest rate on loans and provides technical analysis of electrical equipment,
and the Community Bank of the Bay, which manages the entire loan process.
