PUB COMMISSIONER APPOINTED
ALAMEDA, Calif., September 10, 2003 - The City Council of the City of Alameda,
California, has confirmed the appointment of Mr. A. Charles Bangert as a
Commissioner on the Public Utilities Board.
Previously, Mr. Bangert served in a variety of engineering, regulatory, and
management positions in the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, most recently as
Director of Business Planning. During his tenure, he was elected President of the
Bay Area Engineering Council, held offices in the American Institute of Industrial
Engineers, and was the company's representative on the California Business
Roundtable. He has over 30 years of utility experience.
In addition to his service on the Board, Mr. Bangert now performs as an investment
manager for a variety of private clients.
He holds a baccalaureate degree in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research
from the University of California at Berkeley.
Also serving as Commissioners on the Board are President Karin Lucas, Vice
President Ann L. McCormick, Commissioner Sebastian M. Baldassarre,
and City Manager James M. Flint.
The five commissioner Board oversees City owned Alameda Power & Telecom and
is responsible for setting policies and approving major expenditures. It is the
obligation of the Board and Alameda Power & Telecom staff to ensure the supply
of reliable electric power and telecommunications services to Alameda customers at
the lowest possible cost while maintaining a sound financial position. Meetings are
held regularly on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers,
City Hall, and are open to the public.
