ALAMEDA POWER & TELECOM TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD
ALAMEDA, Calif., February 11, 2004 -
Alameda Power & Telecom has been notified that it will receive a
Community Service Award from the American Public Power Association at
its national conference in June 2004.
According to Meredith Owens, Energy Management Supervisor, "The award
is given to public power utilities that have shown a commitment to
enhancing the quality of life in their communities." The Alameda
Power & Telecom nomination specifically cites the utility's Geothermal
Education Project, Solar Photovoltaic Middle School Project, Geothermal
Power Plant Tours, and Neighborhood Program.
"We're thrilled that these initiatives have been recognized in this
way," Owens continued. "Public power utilities enjoy very close
relationships with their customers, so receiving an award for
exceptional programs is truly an honor."
The American Public Power Association is an industry organization
comprised from approximately 2,000 municipal utilities across the United
States that collectively serve over one-quarter of the nation's
electrical consumers.
"We very much are looking forward to sharing our experiences with the
membership in June," Owens continued.
Alameda Power & Telecom has been previously honored by the organization
for its safety programs.
