AP&T AND PTA PASS SAVINGS TO STUDENTS

ALAMEDA, Calif., February 18, 2004 - Alameda Power & Telecom and the Alameda Council PTA have joined in a new program that offers direct donations to local public school PTAs for new or renewed cable television and AlamedaNET subscriptions.

According to Alameda Power & Telecom Marketing and Customer Service Manager Bill Garvine, one new customer signing up for both cable television and Internet service in this program would yield a $75 donation to the Alameda PTA of their choice.

Garvine explained, "Thanks to the assistance of the Alameda PTA, we recognize significant marketing savings. We believe these savings should be reinvested for the students we both serve".

For new customers, Alameda Power & Telecom will donate $40 for an AlamedaNET subscription and $35 for a cable television subscription. For existing customers who renew by April 15, 2004, for 12 months, Alameda Power & Telecom will donate $30 for an AlamedaNET subscription and $25 for a cable television subscription.

David Forbes, Alameda PTA Council president stated, "Parents really win three ways. First, this program provides a mechanism to fund school initiatives at a time they really are needed. Second, and speaking from personal experience, Alameda Power & Telecom cable and Internet service is excellent and inexpensive, and third, because Alameda Power & Telecom is a department of the City of Alameda, we all win as Alameda Power & Telecom thrives because we are all stakeholders".

Special forms are being provided to all 20 Alameda PTAs for distribution to students. In order to earn the donation, a customer must sign up or renew using the form. Subscriptions made by other means, including door-to-door sales, are not eligible.

Garvine continued, "We're thrilled to participate in a unique cooperative effort that directly benefits Alameda students, keeps our costs down, and helps build our community-owned telecom system. Ultimately, everyone in our community wins".
