GENERAL MANAGER RESIGNS FROM ALAMEDA POWER & TELECOM
ALAMEDA, Calif., February 23, 2004 -
Alameda's City Manager, James M. Flint has announced the resignation
of Ms. Junona A. Jonas from the position of General Manager of Alameda
Power & Telecom, a department of the City of Alameda. Ms. Valerie Fong,
Alameda Power & Telecom Utility Services Manager, will succeed Ms. Jonas
as General Manager.
Ms. Jonas has accepted the position of Utility Director for Silicon
Valley Power, the municipal utility serving Santa Clara, California. In
announcing the resignation, Mr. Flint said, "Junona has been a
definite asset to the enterprise, and I accept her resignation with
regret. We understand and appreciate her interest in her new
appointment, though, and wish her well in this endeavor."
"However, we are truly fortunate in having Ms. Fong prepared to
assume the General Manager position," he continued. "In addition to
her recent service at Alameda Power & Telecom, she has over 24 years of
utility and management experience and is enthusiastic about assuming her
new role."
Ms. Jonas joined Alameda Power & Telecom in December 2000 and has
directed the utility through the addition of new telecommunications
business lines. Of her tenure, she said, "I have truly enjoyed my
association with Alameda Power & Telecom and am proud to have been a
part of such a committed, innovative, and dedicated team. The utility is
in an excellent position to meet its future challenges."
The appointment of Ms. Fong is effective April 5.
