LIGHTNING POSSIBLE OUTAGE CAUSE
ALAMEDA, Calif., February 22, 2005 -
Approximately 10,000 Alameda Power & Telecom electric customers lost power briefly yesterday afternoon due to a
supply system malfunction outside Alameda. It is believed that a lightning strike may have been the cause.
Alameda Power & Telecom receives supply services from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
A problem occurred on the PG&E system at 2:46 p.m. that resulted a loss of power at its Substation C, near Jack London Square.
The substation is one of two points from which Alameda Power & Telecom receives bulk power.
Service to Alameda Power & Telecom customers was restored within 3 minutes.
The outage primarily affected all residents and businesses west of Sherman Street.
