LIGHTNING POSSIBLE OUTAGE CAUSE

ALAMEDA, Calif., February 22, 2005 - Approximately 10,000 Alameda Power & Telecom electric customers lost power briefly yesterday afternoon due to a supply system malfunction outside Alameda. It is believed that a lightning strike may have been the cause.

Alameda Power & Telecom receives supply services from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. A problem occurred on the PG&E system at 2:46 p.m. that resulted a loss of power at its Substation C, near Jack London Square. The substation is one of two points from which Alameda Power & Telecom receives bulk power. Service to Alameda Power & Telecom customers was restored within 3 minutes.

The outage primarily affected all residents and businesses west of Sherman Street.
