ALAMEDA, Calif., April 13, 2005 -
On Wednesday evening, April 27, Alameda's Public Utilities Board and Alameda Power & Telecom staff will host the third
in its Clean Future Fund Speaker Series.
A panel of experts will focus on new renewable resources,
specifically the utility's recent acquisition of wind and landfill gas generation.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mastick Senior Center, 1155 Santa Clara Avenue.
Featured speakers will include Ms. Linda Nutting, Senior Project Developer for Ameresco, Inc.,
a provider of energy from landfill gas, and Mr. Anders Glader, Senior Originator with PPM Energy,
now supplying wind-generated electricity to Alameda.
The panelists will provide insights on the role these renewable technologies play in the industry in general and
for Alameda in particular. About 80% of the power consumed in Alameda is generated using renewable resources.
Mr. Don Rushton, Alameda Power & Telecom's Utility Planning Supervisor, will offer additional perspective
on our community's power needs and recent power transmission developments.
Admission is free, and all Alamedans are welcome, but seating is limited.
Those interested in participating should call 748-3949 to reserve a seat.
The Speakers Series is one component of Alameda Power & Telecom's Clean
Future Fund and highlights prominent
political, educational, and industrial figures and their viewpoints on a wide variety of issues.
