FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TELECOMMUNICATIONS WORK SCHEDULED

ALAMEDA, Calif., August 10, 2005 - Alameda Power & Telecom is reaching out to its cable television and Internet service subscribers to advise them of upcoming work on our City's cable television and Internet system. As a result of these initiatives, service interruptions have been scheduled for early Friday morning, August 12, and for early Monday morning, August 15.

Should it not be possible to complete work on Monday, August 15, Alameda Power & Telecom will ask for the patience of its customers while it completes the effort on Tuesday, August 16.

All service interruptions will begin at 12:00 a.m. and are expected to be complete by 4:00 a.m. These times were chosen to minimize inconvenience to subscribers.

The initial service interruption will affect both cable television and Internet subscribers and is necessary in order to complete repairs and reestablish the highest possible reliability of both services after an equipment failure occurring last week. The subsequent service interruption will affect AlamedaNET subscribers only and is necessary in order to complete the installation of new equipment specifically to enhance Internet performance and reliability.

No email will be lost due to the Internet service interruptions. If after Internet service is restored subscribers still experience any trouble connecting, Alameda Power & Telecom asks that they attempt to reset their modem by unplugging it, letting it rest for approximately 15 seconds, and then repowering it. There is also a reset slot on the modem. If after two attempts to reset the modem service is not fully restored, subscribers are requested to call 748-3900.

Alameda Power & Telecom very much appreciates the patience and cooperation of its customers during these times. Questions may be directed to 748-3900.
