ELECTRIC CABLE FAILURE RESULTS
IN POWER OUTAGE
ALAMEDA, Calif., January 14, 2006 -
Approximately 3,500 electric customers of Alameda Power & Telecom, the municipal electric utility serving the City of Alameda, lost power this afternoon due to the failure of a distribution cable. The outage began at 2:04 p.m. and affected customers in Bay Farm Island neighborhoods. Power was restored 59 minutes later as Alameda Power & Telecom crews switched to alternate circuitry.
A full investigation of the incident is underway.
