ELECTRIC SERVICE RESTORED

ALAMEDA, Calif., January 20, 2006 - Electric service to approximately 500 customers of Alameda Power & Telecom, the municipal electric utility serving the City of Alameda, has been restored after this morning's outage.

Customers on Bay Farm Island in an area generally bounded by Sea View Parkway and Robert Davey Jr. Drive, west of Tynebourne Way to Aughinbaugh Way lost power at 7:32 a.m. when a distribution transformer failed. The lights came back on at 8:50 a.m., approximately 1 hour later, as Alameda Power & Telecom crews switched around the troubled transformer.

Service to approximately 25 customers on Cumberland Way will be delayed to later in the day as equipment is replaced.

A full investigation of the incident also is underway.
