FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ELECTRIC BILLING CYCLES TEMPORARILY ALTERED
ALAMEDA, Calif., January 30, 2006 -
Alameda Power & Telecom wants to assure its customers that they haven't been forgotten.
To provide the best possible service while keeping control over costs,
the utility is converging and upgrading its customer information systems.
In some cases, work on the project resulted in temporary delays of customer billings.
"We've gotten a number of calls from customers who didn't receive their January bills when they were expected,"
said Alameda Power & Telecom spokesman Matt McCabe. "We very much appreciate their attentiveness."
Alameda Power & Telecom particularly wants to reach out to about 3,000 customers whose billings were shifted by about 2
weeks during a critical point in the conversion.
"We know who these customers are, and they should not be fearful of losing electric service," McCabe added.
The utility has approximately 33,000 electric power customers,
as well as over 15,300 cable television and Internet customers whose billings were not affected by the conversion.
"We apologize, as it is never our intent to make our customers anxious. It's heartening to see how supportive they have been.
We very much appreciate their patience."
If customers have concerns, they should call 748-3900.
