Act of Kindness Award

Frederica Von Stade has shared her incredible mezzo-soprano voice with Alamedans for many years through her performances for the Alameda Education Foundation, Midway Shelter, and fundraisers for other worthy causes.

Recently, this internationally known star performed an extraordinary act of kindness for Midway Shelter. Asked to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on a date she had already set aside to host a benefit dinner for the shelter, she told the Choir she would sing with them if they would donate $10,000 to the shelter.

They agreed, and Midway shelter received the largest donation in their history.
