The Alameda Committee for Guide Dogs for The Blind, under Chairperson Mary Milani, has been in existence for 43 years and has raised the $20,000+ needed to sponsor a dog for the past 15 years. Some years they have raised enough to sponsor two dogs. There are only 2 committees of this kind in the USA, and the Alameda Committee's extraordinary fundraising efforts and dedication give sight-impaired individuals the gift of independence and companionship.
