Alameda Meals On Wheels, under the leadership of Rosemary Reilly, is a locally funded seven day a week program providing meals for housebound elderly as well as disabled or ill residents of all ages. All of the meals are delivered by volunteers. Recently, they have implemented an "Alameda Friendly Visitors" program that provides volunteers to regularly visit meal recipients and other homebound Alamedans to provide them emotional support and have them know that someone cares. Many of those receiving meals see no one except those delivering meals each day.
