Rear Admiral Kevin Eldridge, U.S. Coast Guard Retired, assumed command of the Coast Guard's Eleventh District at a change of command ceremony on Alameda's Coast Guard Island in July of 2003, and was responsible for all Coast Guard operations within the states of California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. He was the driving force behind Alameda being designated as an official United States Coast Guard City, an honor bestowed on only a handful of cities in the United States. We thank Rear Admiral Eldridge, now retired, for his recognizing and celebrating the unique partnership between the City of Alameda and the United States Coast Guard.
