Act of Courage Award

Joseph Marhx was only 13 last year when a fire broke out in his apartment complex. He could have easily fled to safety, as so many others would have done. Instead, he remained calm and helped 10 of his neighbors and their pets safely out of the burning complex. For his courage and heroism, the Alameda Fire Department recently presented Joseph with their "Youth Recognition Award." This award gives tribute to boys and girls, under the age of 18, who have acted out of heroism, courage and outstanding citizenship.
