Alameda Food Bank:

Alameda Food Bank started off with two or three volunteers operating out of a closet in the back room of a church and serving 35 individual recipients per month. This year, they celebrate their 30th anniversary and, each month, their 50 regular volunteers provide food packages to 1,350 low-income Alamedans. Up until recently run exclusively by volunteers, they have grown to become one of Alameda's primary social service organizations, and have added an Executive Director, Paul Russell, and a Food Distribution Manager. They now offer their customers 7 nutritious food packages each month.
