City of Alameda Heroes - 2007

Citizen of the Year - Lifetime Achievement Award

Sponsored by Alameda Clara Barton Foundation

While many Alamedans perform acts of dedication and service to our community each year, the Citizen of the Year Heroes Award gives us the opportunity to honor an individual who has been committed to serving our community over a period of ten years or more. This year's winner has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to Alameda and to the organizations that assist Alamedans in need.

Ed Kofman:

Ed Kofman is a native Alamedan who has continued his family's tradition of community service, devoting himself to improving the quality of life in Alameda. He has played an active and leadership role in many Alameda organizations, serving 2 terms as President of the Board of Meals On Wheels, Treasurer and President of the Alameda Boys and Girls Club, President of the Alameda Clara Barton Foundation Board, and the Alameda Kiwanis Club. He sits on the Alameda Hospital and City of Alameda Foundation Boards, and the Honorary Board of Alameda Family Services.
Leading by example, he's always there to lend a helping hand, heading committees and leading fundraising and other projects.

He serves as Treasurer of the Temple of Israel Foundation, bikes to raise awareness for Diabetes, and supports the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life", walking in the midnight hours for cancer awareness.

No one in Alameda cares more or has done more for our community.
